Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has said before a group of Russian lawmakers Sunday that Western attacks in his country have been an act of aggression, Russian news agencies have reported.
Reuters has reported that Russian lawmakers have met with Assad after the United States, France and Britain have launched missile attacks as retaliation against the chemical weapons attack that took place last week in the town of Duma.
Russian news agencies have quoted lawmakers as saying that Assad was in “good use of” and praised the Soviet air defence system used by Syria to counter Western attacks.
He was invited to visit the Siberian region of Khanty-Mans.
Meanwhile, the Russian agencies have quoted a Russian official as saying that the United States will seek dialogue with Russia for strategic stability in Syria.
“has many reasons to make us believe that after the attacks on Syria, Americans will want to move into strategic dialogue”, Vladimir Ermakov is quoted as saying.
