These writings may describe bills that have come ahead of an emergency meeting of Russia's parliament's top house. In a show of solidarity, the draft was presented last week by Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin along with the leaders of four parliament factions.
It serves as Russia's response to US sanctions from April 6th, which are heavier since the Crimea annexation in 2014, reports “DW” Transmission Periscope.
Russia's response constitutes a legal basis for secret sanctions stemming from the approval of the U.S. Congress of CAATSA (Rejection to America through act of sanctions) in the summer of 2017.
Russia's trade is not large: $24 billion (19 billion) in 2017, according to the Russian state agency RIA, with $17 billion worth of Russian goods and services sold in the US and $7 billion sold in Russia. That makes it difficult for Russia to damage the US with these sanctions.
The bill proposes restrictions on agriculture, food, alcohol, tobacco and US medical imports.
Sanctions also include ending US-Russia co-operation in the field of atomic energy, aircraft production and missile systems. This may affect Boeing, as it imposes titanium from Russia./Periscopi/
