A letter to Kosovo Assembly deputies
Honored Kosovo Assembly deputies, the SPARTK union is concerned with the current situation in RTK, which is only getting worse today. Several times we have written and been participants in workers organised by the Commission for Media in the Kosovo Assembly, announcing the poor state of the country's only public media. SPARTK wants the Kosovo Assembly's Media Commission to know where the issue of RTK's new Law has remained. There have been several initiatives for RTK to become a solution, but so far nothing concrete. SPARTK is concerned with disapproval of the RTK Law, as well as the failure to resolve the issue of permanent and independent financing for RTK, as well as digitization, processes of these impassable for the normal functioning of RTK. Honored MPs have sometimes informed you of the union of the harsh working conditions our colleagues are working on, starting with the improvised studios, the huge RTK technique, which is a donation from Japan that has been given. RTK's in 2000.
Honored MPs, public media in the region have had these issues resolved since. SPARTK calls from the Kosovo assembly as the founder of RTK to help the country's only public media, urgently resolving the issue of independent financing, adopting the new Law, passing HD broadcast and digitising the archive. SPARTK requires the Kosovo Assembly, for RTK's funding to be done directly by Kosovo taxpayers, through electricity bills. This would be the best form that would guarantee editorial independence for RTK.
Honored Kosovo Assembly deputies, it is the last chance to resolve these issues of importance for RTK, otherwise the blame for the failure of the public media in the country will be treated as the founder of RTK, where for 20 consecutive years you were unable to solve these problems for RTK.
With respect,
SPARTK Chief
