The President has violated the Constitution, 30 deputies addressing the Constitution

Krasniqi has said that the president, among the competencies defined with the Constitution, also has: Ensuring the constitutional functioning of institutions defined with the Constitution; and the appointment of Central Election Commission Chairman.

“The CEC is an independent constitutional institution. The mayor and all other members have already completed their term. The president has not yet appointed new members. Since neither of the CEC members has a mandate, this institution is not functional”, Krasniqi has said, Time conveys

“This is, not exercising its competencies (the appointment of CEC chairman), the president has violated the Constitution after obstructing the constitutional functioning of the CEC. In this case, it would take at least thirty deputies to address the Constitutional Court for serious violations of the Constitution on the part of President”, Krasniqi has said further.

On Thursday, Kohavision reported on how Kosovo President Hashim Thaci continues to hold the appointment of chairman and other members of the Central Election Commission hostage. The CEC, for the first time since its establishment, has remained without a warrant.

Based on the Constitution of Kosovo and the Law for Elections, the president shortly after the confirmation of the results of the June 11th central elections, was obliged to appoint new members within 60 days.

But, even though they're getting close to a year since holding elections, the president has not yet done so, KTV reported.

Even there, Albert Krasniqi, from KDI, had declared that the president is committing legal and constitutional violations. Until it says that the functionisation of this commission is not convene to the president.

All of this because of the opposition's dominance, as both members belong to the Vetevendosje Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo, while PAN has as many members.

Meanwhile, opposition parties drop criticism at the president's address, saying he is not acting in line with legal provisions.

Former CEC member from the Vetevendosje ranks Adnan Rrustemi said the president must act urgently, on the contrary making the decision to send the issue to the respective instances. This party has already sent two names to the president, the Himadej Hysen and Adnan Rrustem.

Meanwhile, KTV also contacted Florian Dusin, whose name has been sent to Presidencys by LDK. He has said the president has created such a situation for the first time.

Kohavision had sent questions to President Hashim Thaci's office to get clarifications regarding this impasse, but presidency officials have not returned answers.

After the end of the central elections a year ago, the president had argued that because of holding local elections, he could not appoint members and new CEC chairman.
