The pilot of one of the two Greek fighter jets that flew today to deter Turkish drones, who had violated Greece's airspace, has passed away when his plane crashed into the sea.
According to Greek media, the <x0pilot that was killed Thursday when his plane crashed in the central Aegean was identified by the Hellenic Air Force as Captain Giorgos Baltadoros. Baltadoros was serving in the 331 Air Force Squad in Tangagra. Sources from the Greek Defence Ministry said the model plane “Mage 2000-5” was one of two Greek aircraft on a mission to capture Turkish aircraft in the Aegean earlier in the day”, writes “Ecatimerini”, reports “Panorama”
The plane crashed at sea, about six miles [10 km] northeast of Skyros Island. No information has been given about the possible cause of the crash, reports Greek media. Greek Defence Minister Panos Kammenos wrote on Twitter: <x0hero ... which fell in the fight to defend our national sovereignty and territorial integrity”. A commission has been set up to investigate the accident.
