Murtezaj comments Erdogan's intervention in Kosovo's internal affairs

Valon Murtezaj, former deputy minister of Kosovo's foreign affairs, in the past mandate of the executive, speaking about Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's threat to Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, says that according to the fundamental principles of international relations, it is considered unacceptable for a Government to intervene in the internal affairs of another state. [...]

Serious countries and serious leaders have respect for each other even when they have disagreements, sometimes deep differences, about respect behavior in different countries. We must start by a fundamental principle, which is also valuable for us in Kosovo, which we do not mix up and should not take sides in the conflicts of other countries. However, interventions of other countries, the territory or the sovereignty of Kosovo are not allowed in this case”, Murtezaj told Radio Free Europe.

Murtezaj estimates that Erdogan's statements, but also Haradinaj's failure to respond, speak of two different policy approach mentality, but also diplomacy.

Maybe we shouldn't deal with any statement, but it also shows the reality and the governing mentality in that part of the world. Therefore, Kosovo must have a European governing mentality, which it has consistently had and hopefully, and we all have to work for that to remain the fundamental value, because the foundation for building the state of Kosovo is respect and protection of human rights. The state of Kosovo is built on this, and only on these principles can the state of Kosovo survive”, Murtezaj said.

During a speech delivered at the AKP's regular congress on Sunday, Turkish President Erdogan has said that “thanks Kosovo President”. Meanwhile, “to the prime minister I say "turp”," Erdogan said. Even on Saturday, the Turkish president has threatened Kosovo Prime Minister Haradinaj, saying that “will pay” and that soon he will end his career because he has removed the head of the Kosovo Agency for Intelligence and Interior Affairs, because he had not announced the arrest and deportation operation of Turkish citizens.
