MTI aims to acquire competence for formation of economic zones

The Ministry of Trade and Industry has drafted the draft draft Law on Changing the Law on Economic Areas, with which it aims to have the competence for forming economic zones taken by the Government of Kosovo and municipalities.

This initiative has been argued by the fact that it will clarify the competencies for economic creation, writes Koha Ditore.

Recognisors of the issue say it removes bureaucratic procedures for creating economic zones, while they have said that with the new law, which is in the public consultations phase, they expect even current economic areas to function better.

According to the MTI Media Office, the basic first-to-be changes to this bill are definition of decision-making in establishing economic zones, determining competencies for management and management of economic zones, setting the deadline for starting economic zone construction, and harmonising the construction of economic areas with municipal development plans.
