Spatial Planning Minister Albena Resiti, during a discussion with students of the American University, has said air pollution in Kosovo is a very big challenge, and for that it has called for the use of coal in Kosovo to cease.
It has listed the use of coal, thermal power plants, factories and old cars as the biggest air pollutors in the country.
Until she said she remained shocked after realizing that more than 200 schools use coal as fuel, where she showed that she has asked the Minister of Education, Shyqiri Bytyqi, to ban her use as fuel in schools and institutions.
I have said and I continue to work in that direction that we as institutions after we can give another citizen alternative, we have to stop using coal in family economies and small businesses. And at the same time I started investigating how many schools and kindergartens use coal, and I was shocked to realize that over 200 schools in our country use coal as fuel. So I have recommended that the education minister start acting and make a decision to cut off the use of coal in schools and children's gardens”, Resiti said.
And as she said, the capital remains the most polluted municipality in the country, with over 135 identified pollution points. Until he counted the other municipalities facing this problem.
The most expressed procedure in the whole Republic of Kosovo is in the Pristina region. When I say the Pristina region, I think of Pristina, the municipality of Obilic, the municipality of Fushe Kosovo, to some extent the region towards Vushtrria and Mitrovica. But the focus is on Pristina”, Reshimaj stressed.
For this, Resitij stressed that it is fully dedicated to, along with other acts, preventing the presentation of the consequences and lowering the level of diseases with unknown ethics, where, she said, a considerable portion of them come from contaminated air.
All in the end, the Minister of Space Planning announced that soon citizens will have the opportunity to see the level of pollution on their smart phones.
While Kosovo will introduce innovation as part of the development curve, it will find solutions for today's and future problems.
