The United Education, Science and Culture Union has suggested that as of April 13th the entire teaching system will go on strike. All this after the Law for Education Workers of the 1990s has not gone to Government to proceed to the Kosovo Assembly
The SBASK chairman, Nundman Jashari, has told news that the prime minister and ministers have been informed of the official letter continuing the strike.
“UA has let the prime minister know, Deputy Prime Ministers and Minister Bytyqi that if things don't work out properly and are not regulated within that time then the SBASK will act within the Congress resolution, which says on April 13th the entire educational system will be on strike. We know this strike could harm students who are now at the end of the school year, but the government cabinet, prime minister, education minister and others because we don't do things there”, he said.
Yasar has stressed that the higher institutions have had a month-long deadline to proceed with SBASK's request.
“From March 12th through April 13th has been a month's time in which they could carry out their duties and ensure that the Law for the Albanian Education Workers' Staff goes to Government to get the green light and go to parliament, this largest requirement. While the other demands we have made public are the Law of Salaries and others continuing in communication with ministries. So the issue would be very stable if the government within these days put the law in order for the 1990s, because this history law has been in place since 2015 and it has yet to become anything, he added.
Whether this strike continues, students are being harmed by members of the Kosovo Education Commission, VV MP Arberie Nagavci.
Nagavci has said he is hoping to send this bill to the Assembly as soon as possible.
“We have sent a letter to Prime Minister Haradinaj to bring the Bill on the Salaries of Teachers of the '90s-99s to the Parliament, because this is one of the reasons for the Union. This bill has to be brought in just because of the strike that doesn't get you in trouble and I can't teach students at the end of this school year when there's a lot of tests. But we hope that they will proceed with the draft law in the Assembly as soon as possible and avoid the reasons for strike”, she said of the news.net.
According to her, this bill has been initiated for years
This bill has been failing for years. It's been initiated for seven years and discussed. At times, reasons have been given to financial charity at times simply stalled. It's an issue the ministry has completed, as much information has taken to Government, and as soon as it comes to Government it's better”, she said.
