All this is actually an intensive within field exercise “Silver Sword 2018 -1 “Where KFOR, KSF, Kosovo Police, EULEX and the Agency for Emergency Management have demonstrated capacities in overcoming natural disasters and riot management, KTV reports.
After the passing of natural disaster, security institutions have also tested the capacity for possible turmoil management.
According to the scenario, lack of bread and water has triggered violent protests, Kosovo Police as the first reacter tries to calm the situation.
EULEX Police also intervene afterwards.
But the numerous barricades and the increasing number of protesters made it necessary to respond to the military and that in Kosovo are NATO peacekeeping troops, KFOR.
This year has been important to KFOR Commander, Major General Salvatore Cuoci.
He has stressed that it is the first time all security institutions have made such an exercise, and the exercise resulted in success.
Although the KSF was only part of the natural disaster management exercise, KFOR Commander has said KSF is very capable, professional and trained to manage the situation, but for its future, Kosovars decide.
If you speak of transforming the KSF into armed forces, it belongs to Kosovo institutions they must decide on it. NATO's position is clear, however, and whatever the transformation is, it must be done with constitutional changes. We are constantly supporting and training them and consider them partners so we look forward to announcing the co-operation and partnership with them”, Cuoci said.
About 1,000 KFOR members, KSF, the Kosovo Police, EULEX and the Agency for Emergency Management have participated in the exercise.
