Although he is aware of that, in his court in Pristina, Selimaj has two objects that are covered with lson. That this material containing absis is carcinogenic, so said ombudsman Hilmi Yasar.

But Selimaj, who has covered the garage with this material and an aid object, says he has been thinking since the weather to remove them from the roof but that it should be obtained from the municipality and that long procedures are needed to get permission.

We're aware that it's cancerous, we know it's holding on to the azbest that makes this cancerous material, but in us in Kosovo there are some problems that are preventing us from avoiding these. I've asked what it takes to change the height of a garage, told me it has to be applied for renovation, which takes time to approve or not, there's a impasse. That fact bothers us and compels us to work unlegally. But in the future we think about changing the cover of the vault, which is planned to be fully renovated and the” garage, Selimaj told Kosova Preris.

There are no statistics in Kosovo about how many houses are covered with this material that poses a threat to the health of citizens, but ombudsman Hilmi Jashari, says there are still many roofs of homes, garages and other sides covered with Leson, which, according to them, has been widely practiced for reasons that there has been a free cost for construction.

Jashari made it known that the European Court has ruled that the use of lexon material causes cancer in the respiratory body, where many European states have taken measures before 20 years to stop that material.

He has even said that Kosovo citizens are not informed of the risks he has presented in their health.

“From many European countries, but even on the basis of the European Court's decision, this material is already known to be carcinogenic and causes cancer in the respiratory body, and many countries have taken preventative measures over 20 years now, there are specific programs for removing this material from widespread use, but it is strange that in Kosovo it still continues to be present in a massive way, but above all, we have estimated that citizens who have no access to the risk that this material represents at the level of”, Yasar said.

The ombudsman has said that they have not yet done research of that nature as to how much citizens might be affected by the removal of the lesson.

He even says that the material must be removed and put at least 10m deep underground and have affixed with standards for preventing cancerogenic effects on people.

There is no known-to-do research of the rough nature of which may explain what impact citizens may be about, and what are the measures of escape during the use of this material or its departure, and this has greatly concerned us that it is a cancerous material that has forced us to start this investigation, but it is obvious that at every corner of Kosovo, these materials that were used to cover the stamps or sides of the houses or garage. Practices from other countries say these materials should be removed with a separate procedure of adequate protection of employees who come into contact with this material and, above all, must be placed in the minimum 10m-dwelled ground space, closed with the appropriate standard wrap-up and marked with the GPS system to identify itself as the location of”, Jashar said.

He made it known that there are information that many water supply systems across several Kosovo regions still have water supply systems under this material that is in use.

But despite this, there are still citizens who are not aware that the lexonit has presented cancer in the health of some of those who have had close contact and wonder how it has been possible to not be informed by relevant institutions that are endangered by the lesson.

Remzi Gashi from Pristina was unaware that this material is cancerous, which tells of Kosovas that he had never heard of cancer coming from him.

We've never heard of it. We had never put them in our homes, nor had we covered them, nor had we brought them close to”, Gashi said.

Regarding the procedures that citizen Shpend Selimaj has presented in case they want to remove it, the Urbanism Directorate explains the situation. Krenare Shkodra of the Urbanism Directorate in Pristina explains also about procedures in the event someone wants to remove that material from the roof, but says those like the Director do not have the powers to remove it, whether in private or public objects.

“Private property owners do not need to obtain permission or apply for permits in the municipality to remove this material, but first they must report the management of the inspection so that they can see that during the works they will not undertake other jobs that do not coincide with what is required”, Shkodra told Kosovas.

It gives advice to citizens if they want to remove this material from the rooftops of different houses or objects.

“Yet during the change of these tiles containing acute citizens should be taken care of because of the risk of containing nitrogen fibers, the management of waste management overall, Shkodra said.

According to her, they have to show the location where they send that material, equip the workers with masks, make sure the material they transport doesn't break, and some other rules.

Shkodra, however, says the Urbanisation Directorate is not competent to do any interference in buildings either public or private for removing these rules because it has no competence.

But she made it known that this type of material is not recently being used because, as the citizens said, they have understood about the damage the tiles have contained in the asthma.

The Urbanism Directorate official announced that there are no statistics on the number of objects in Pristina that are covered with material containing asthma and that it is said to be harmful to people's health.
