It says that the Vjetor General Assembly has attended the heads of all Kosovo municipalities.

The Parliament's work has been opened by the current AKK chairman, Naim Ismajli.

In contrast, there once was Lutfi Haziri, now chairman of Gjilan.

The Kosovo Communists Association has held the Annual General Assembly, where delegates from the Republic of Kosovo municipalities and mayors have attended. Mr. President of the AKK. Naim Ismaili opened the work of the Parliament and presented to the attendees the work agenda of this meeting, the highest organisation of the Kosovo Communist Association.

The AKK's Annual General Assembly today debated annual labour and financial reports for 2017, as well as debated the legislative agenda of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo 2018 and other lobbie issues in the interest of Kosovo municipalities.

Presenting the AKK Labor Report for 2017, Mr. Chairman. Naim Ismaili, among other things, said that “in terms of AKK's work during 2017, in the president's quality, will try briefly to present some of the key points performed by the AKK structures in the service of Communists' interests, because they are most generally described in the Drift justly report 2017. Even during 2017, the Kosovo Communist Association has worked in the function of representing and protecting municipal interests, providing advanced services and improving the performance of municipalities, consolidation and strengthening of new AKK structures and good financial performance. The AKK has been based in the legislative agenda of the Government of the Assembly of Kosovo, being part of working groups in the review of bills and other legal acts at executives and has participated in Parliament troops at meetings and in several public hearings to support the positions and interests of the municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo. The AKK has addressed about 75 requests and recommendations at the central level and the result of their information on legal acts and in the interest of municipalities stands at 65 percent. Working with partners, The AKK has helped them to lobe and invoking, to implement many projects that have benefited municipalities, whether in funds, financial support in projects, service delivery, worker training, exchange of experience, etc. The SDC as the main partner in developing and advancing the AKK has made substantial contributions as support for the AKK.

Co-operation with similar projects has been implemented with DEMOS, GIZ, NALAS, ACT/ U n AID, U n NDP, UNICEF, Save the Children, Projects supported by the European Commission, the OSCE, etc. As for establishing Communist capacity, training in implementing new legislation in many areas has been organised. As you know in December last year, the training of the members of the Communist Framework which ended earlier this year began. Professional colleges remain a strong support in discussing various illegal bills and acts in the interest of municipalities, which isolate themselves in legislative strategy. These mechanisms are the unifying structures of local government in Kosovo. Colleges have been dealt with review and discussion of various topics of municipal interest, including making recommendations and requests for the central government in order to improve municipal services”.

“In the end, I can appreciate that in general we have achieved defined goals as goals to achieve, but always claiming we should and we can do even more in the future to protect the interests of Kosovo municipalities. The AKK General Assembly delegates after discussions have approved the AKK's Labor Report and Financial Report for 2017.

At the next point, the General Assembly of the Kosovo Communist Association chose Mr. Agim Veliun é chairman of the Podujevo municipality, and vice president Mr. Xhafer Gashin, chairman of the Obilics municipality. The Assembly also elected members of the AKK Board: Mr. Hakki Rugova. Imri Ahmeti- chairman of the Lipjan municipality, Mr. Agron Kuci chairman of the Yunik municipality, Mr. Agim Aliu) Chairman of the Ferizaj municipality, and Mr. Dragan Petkovic) chairman of the Partesh municipality.

In this case, Mr. AKK's newly elected chairman. Agim Veliu in his address after thanking the Assembly delegates for the given confidence said that “sic knows the Kosovo Communist Association is a completely organisation of Kosovo municipalities and is in full service of local government and the challenges of the issues this level of governance is affected in the Republic of Kosovo. As it has been so far, the AKK, even in my mandate as its chairman, will be a non-political and non-party organisation but an organisation that only works and engages in the defence of the interests of Kosovo municipalities. The current engagement in this direction has brought this image and reputation that has the Association of Kosovo municipalities at both the central level and the Dontators' community”.

“I believe that together we will manage to move forward with new progress in the post that I spoke the highest and most efficient and meaningful service to the citizens of our municipalities”, Mr. Agim Veliu.

Mr. Executive Director. Saban Ibrahimi presented this year's work plan and lobbie forms in the interest of Kosovo municipalities and received the approval of the AKK General Assembly delegates.

Other issues involving local governance in Kosovo were also debated at this annual meeting.
