Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, in an interview for the programme “Unexposed” in the TC, said that the fee imposed on the flow of vehicles to “Nation Street”, is too high and damages citizens' interests in Albania and Kosovo.
I thank those who worked to get on the road. It is the big budget, the big money of Albania's government and the people of Albania and Kosovo. And those tunnels when they were built at the time were an achievement of all Albanians. We're happy. You know when the tunnel was closed there was a ceremony. Now I hear about the fees set, my assessment, personal call it, are high. For residents of the area there is a financial overload that there are also poor areas”.
Haradinaj said the fee is high enough for entrepreneurs, who, after setting the fee, are thinking alternative roads and that it may be more convenient for them to use the Thessaloniki port instead of the port of Durres.
It's too expensive. 25 euros for a truck, cargo transporter. We previously criticised each other for not making a customs union, removing costs, spending, now for a transport truck, 25 euros en route and 25 euros coming and 25 euros for scanners. So 75 euros on the transporter. Going to Thessaloniki is cheaper than coming to Durres. So say these entrepreneurs, the carriers who exploit the port of Durres”.
Prime Minister Haradinaj considers the fee at “Nation Street”, a bad signal.
It's not a good signal, I don't know if it's going to fall, but it's not a good signal. Most countries and peoples usually make it easy to bring tourists to absorb them there in the coastal area, which may have an impact of”. /tpz.al
