Asked whether a war is coming between Greece and Turkey in an interview for the German magazine “Der Spiegel”, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias has replied he does not believe that. “No, I don't believe that, and I hope Turkey doesn't believe it can do that. I don't think Recep Tayip Erdogan can dream of changing European borders”.

“There is no alternative but peace and peaceful co-existence”, the Greek chief diplomat stressed. “But that doesn't mean that we don't take into account the behavior of any of our neighbours and how they face the problems of neighbourhoods, which should be resolved diplomaticly, peacefully, on the basis of international law”, the Greek Foreign Minister said.

I always tell Erdogan when I meet him that Allah put us next to each other and he waits to see if you behave fairly, morally and rationally. You can't change the geox1>, Kotzias says in another part of the interview.

The Turkish president is a leader in Turkey, not an odd personality. Greece is not a bad neighbour, but Erdogan has a tendency to arrogance”, Kotzias points out, who estimates Ankara, as a way to make politics like creating tensions, while Athens has as its culture rationalism.

Their “Synnimous is to force us to sit at a table with their conditions, but this is not going to happen and they need to understand this”, he says.

Contrary to Defence Minister Kammenos, Kotzia does not call Turkey an enemy country, but stresses that, it has geostrategic problems and geopolitical claims with Greece.

In the question of whether Greece can withstand an arms race, Kotzia answers that the Greek army has six German submarines, which are a terrible weapon at sea, and that Turkey really orders aircraft carriers, but Greece also has 2,000 islands and although there are not many Parà, has the advantage of good protection.
