Greece gives one billion euros per weapons

Greek media report that a Greek parliament committee has adopted rapid procedures for procurement of weapons worth about 1 billion euros. According to “Grecreporter.com”, the decision was made following a confidential briefing of the arms committee by the command of the Greek Armed Forces. Defence Minister Panos Kammenos, FA Chief of General Staff Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis and leaders of the General Army Command, the General Staff of Air Force and Hellenic Navy.
The priorities of the programme are Greece's air force and the growth of 85 of its F-16 US war aircraft, along with the maintenance of the Mirage-20 flight fleet.
The navy also needs an improvement in its MeKO frigate fleet. The government is rushing to conclude the deal by 30 April and is expected to not cross the 1.1 billion-euro border.
