According to the ministry's report prepared for a parliamentary investigation by the leftist politician, Sevim Dagdelen, “from December 18th to January 24th, 2018, 31 permits have been issued for military weapons in Turkey. ”
The government has said it has approved a military agreement with code-named numbers covering bomb zones, toppedovas, rockets, fire control, monitoring systems, land vehicles, ships, sea equipment, electronics and air tanks, and special tanks, reports “Daily Sababah”, the Periscope broadcast.
Military agreements between Turkey and Germany have been a source of tension, as the German state said last month it will ban the modernisation of the Leopard 2 tanks.
Ankara and Berlin have planned for the type Leopard to be modernised by a German defence industry company.
German media have alleged that in January, the modernisation of tanks could push to cool relations between the two states. Under German law, any defence industry project must be approved by the cabinet.
Despite the few difficulties in the Leopard 2 agreement, it was discovered with the German ministry's report that the two countries have been doing business as usual. Recently, Stern, a German magazine, confirmed that German defence company Rheinmetall and the Turkish firm BMC had signed an agreement on January 9th in Dusseldorf.
“The BMC has said the agreement with German partners has been finalised about modernising Leopard tanks produced in Germany, which now belong to Turkish military services. Riinmetall will supply technology, while BMC will help set it up. Purpose: To better protect tanks from bullets and mines,” says in the article published by Stern. /Periscopi/
