European Scientists at War With American Science About Artificial Intelligence

Leading European scientists have drawn up plans for a major European multinational institute dedicated to researching artificial global intelligence (AI) in an effort to feed and keep talent alive in Europe. The new institution will be similar for the same reasons as Cern, a physics lab located near the Swiss city of Geneva. This laboratory was created after World War II, built by European physicists for atomic particle research.
Called Europe's lab for learning and the intelligent system, or Ellis, was proposed by the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, where there will be large centres in small parts of countries, including United Britain, in which hundreds of computer engineers, mathematicians and other field scientists who would keep their studies on Artificial Intelligence would be employed, reports the “The Guardian<18x1).
A letter sent to European governments, scientists describe why the European continent remains behind the United States and China. The letter writes, while some <x0) hot research links” still exist in Europe, “almost all highly developed people are being recruited by American companies. ”
The letter, signed by scientists from Britain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Israel and the Netherlands, calls for the institute to begin operating this year.
There must be something that must be done now,” said Zoubin Ghahramani, professor of information engineering at Cambridge University and Uber science chief. “This would provide Europe with massive centers where we would have no 10 researchers, but hundreds of experts from different countries”.
The first step for the institution's construction is to start with co-operation between France and Germany./Periscopi/
