The EU again states Kosovo: You must wait

She has stressed that Montenegro and Serbia have had progress in membership negotiations.
“Today the college approved the annual enlargement package for the Western Balkans and Turkey. It is our interest to have a successful enlargement policy. The Western Balkans is Europe and will be part of the EU's future. It's for our benefit and our citizens. Each country is assessed on the basis of personal merit and progress on reforms. Over the past year our Balkan partners have undertaken very important reform. The council decides to open membership talks with Albania and Macedonia”, Moghrini said.
During the release of the progress report for the six Western Balkan countries, Moghrin stressed that one needs to focus on key issues for law enforcement, free market and should ensure that reforms are implemented in the right form, as citizens expect the respective countries to have success in those policies.
The next few months are important and there is common commitment and with the support of our people to have progress to further”, Moghrin said.
While Johannes Hahn said it is important for the Western Balkans to provide stability.
He has in this case commemorated that the future of the Western Balkans is in the EU.
“Every year in the spring we will have a stability report, and the EC has taken into account progress made by Macedonia and Albania and recommended opening negotiations for the EU. This moment of reforms when it comes to Albania, such as reforms in fighting organised crime, corruption and protection of minorities”, has said Hahn, EU Enlargement Commissioner.
