Serbian ministers have been instructed to pay particular attention to the Kosovo problem during each meeting with their international colleagues.
As the Belgrade newspaper “Vecernje Novosti” writes, this particularly concerns meeting with officials of those countries who are supposed to be able to withdraw recognition of Kosovo's independence.
Serbia, according to the newspaper, currently does not have contracts with any lobbie agency that would represent the country's interests in relation to Kosovo, but this option is not excluded in the future, the Telegraph followed.
Foreign Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic said 173 countries have signed lobbi agreements with American agencies and estimated that it is clear that the modern world is functioning this way.
You just have to make it transparent the way this is done, and I think we should lobby for our interests where decisions are made”, Dacic said.
The Serbian newspaper, calling to data from the United States, writes that the Government of Serbia from 2006 to 2008 has paid a total of 800 thousand dollars to the agency “Barbour Griffith&Rogers”.
Dacic has said Thursday that the Serbian government signed a contract with “the 30-point strategic group” in 2008, with a monthly payment of $44,000. He said that in 2011, Minister Vuk Jeremic signed a lobby agreement with the “Podesta Group” for $100 thousand a month, based on a government decision.
I'm talking about official contracts that have been signed. The first agency was paid $1.4m, while $900 thousand was given “The Group”, Dacic said.
The chief of Serbian diplomacy noted that the “Podesta Group” just months later signed the contract with Pristina, under which it should act directly against Serbia's interests.
