On April 17th, we expect the European Commission to recommend for Albania, the opening of negotiations for EU membership”, chief diplomat Ditmir Bushati said from Shkodra.
In a press proposal, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs voiced confidence that the EC will confirm reforms by turning April 17th into an important moment for Albania, beyond the opposition government.
“We have a change of attitude on the part of the opposition, but it is not the first time. I hope they return to the path of reason. April 17th is an important moment not for the Rama government, not for the opposition, but for Albania. We believe we deserve the European Commission to propose the launch of EU membership talks that would be a success for Albania and Albanians”, Bushati underlined.
The minister said that “expects the European Commission on April 17th to confirm precisely the reforms that have been made in Albania and propose the launch of negotiations, and then there will be another volume work with EU member states, as the full consensus is known to be needed in order to launch the difficult, challenging process for membership, which will not be an easy process”.
