33 years after the dictator's death, Enver Hoxha

Today it is 33 years from Enver Hoxha's death. His 40-year period of leadership in Albania was marked by the elimination of the opposition, the sentences of his political opponents to death or long imprisonments, and the expulsions of their families from their homes and exiles into remote villages, where [...]
Hoxha was born on October 16, 1908 in the neighbourhood “Palorto”, Gjirokastra. He was Albania's communist leader from 1944 to his death in 1985, as First Secretary of the Albanian Labour Party. He was chairman of Albania's Democratic Front and commander-in-chief of the armed forces from 1944 to his death.
He served as Albanian prime minister, 1944-1954, and at different times served as foreign minister and defence minister.
In recent years, Hodge was burdened with diabetes that had been diagnosed many years earlier, and he has a heart attack in 1972, then another in 1973, and on April 11, 1985, he changes his life.
At a grand ceremony, Enver Hoxha was buried in the tomb of the martyrs, where he received such honours as to any leader. But after the fall of Communism, his grave moved to the cemetery in Sharra, where it is today.
The 40-year period of his leadership in Albania is marked by accusations and support, until one party is seen as a hero, the other is accused of eliminating political opponents, expulsions of their families from their homes and exiles in remote villages, where police and state security were strictly controlled.
