He has mentioned a former Yugoslav state, referring to Macedonia.
“Hakers from Macedonia have used false profiles to publish false news to influence the US election results in Alabama. We have neutralized these efforts. This is not quantum physics, but we need a lot of work to do. We have to make sure Russia does not intervene in the course of anything, in case of choice, and to stop the distribution of false news”, he said.
During the 2016 election campaign, Zuckerberg said Facebook was not in full potential to prevent Russia's full influence on the social network.
But, a few months later, during the elections in France, we launched new artificial intelligence tools and a bigger job has been done to identify false news, Russian hackers and their impact”, Zuckerberg said.
Zuckerberg said the Russians made a mistake.
The “Russians made a mistake... they urged people to take sides, and the goal was to separate the community. Most of the actions the Russians took back then were not directly linked to interferring elections, even if our research says so, but the goal was to divide people. We had a group of people who were against immigrants and another who was behind. These people were influenced by false news and hackers”, Zuckerberg said. /Periscopi/
