Blerim Shala, Kosovo president's adviser: “Option we don't have. Neither Kosovo as a state nor Serbia as a state. Now with the new strategy for expanding the Western Balkans, we have an additional push, which should push us for a short period of time to make the binding agreement, which would enable Kosovo to become a member of the UN”.
Kosovo and Serbian presidents are expected to meet in Brussels. Shala says the performance towards the final agreement will be confirmed and the agreements reached are revised. Kosovo has compromised Kosovo Serbs with Ahtisaari's plan.
Blerim Shala, adviser to Kosovo President: “We aim for the binding agreement to be the basis for a new resolution on the UN Security Council and through the resolution to apply for a full UN membership. The time has come for us to recognise this reality and Serbia will recognise this reality and there will be situations that will occur a mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia”.
Serbian press is interested in the idea of Kosovo becoming a UN observer. Kosovo will not do so, but is willing to negotiate in Brussels with Serbia for normalisation. /abcnews. al
