Resume operations at “Ibrit”

North Mitrovica Mayor Goran Rakic has finally allowed work to resume in the construction of the pedestrian area on the “path of King Peter” north of the bridge, following the latest round of dialogue in Brussels.

North Mitrovica Mayor Goran Rakiq has no longer been able to hold jobs hostage to the completion of two EU projects, the revitive of the Ibër Bridge and the re-visting of the “path, King Peter”, where the pedestrian zone for which the EU has invested 3.1m euros will be built.

Until the southern part of the bridge completed work a year ago, in the north they were suspended in April 2017 at the order of North Mitrovica Chairman Goran Rakiq, because, as he had been convicted, of lack of security.

He had asked the international community and Kosovo security institutions to have security for citizens, while from the EU to respect the Brussels Agreement, writes “Zer”.

The EU's spokeswoman in Kosovo, Dinka Zival, has told media in the north that the EU expects the Brussels Agreement to be implemented overall for the bridge now when work has been resumed on the bridge in the northern part and on “to King Peter”, where the pedestrian area and the siege will be built.
