Residents here wake up in fear of possible avalanches, KTV reports.
They say every year they have asked the municipality to undertake something in preventing another tragedy, but their demands have not been taken into account.
There are risks on all sides and many, too endangered, we're here by the tunnel, where you came from, and you've seen how much snow there is after living in an inappropriate place. The municipality doesn't help us, no one cares”, one resident said.
There wasn't a lot of snow this year, we're in danger, but there's nothing to do, what comes from God well that comes”, said another.
Even in the municipality, they recognize that there is danger of snow slide. But they say they haven't had financial support from central institutions.
Salay Sait, deputy chairman of the Dragas municipality, also said they have put up several metal pillars and some nets to prevent the slide of stones and snow, but it is not enough.
It has been six years since the tragedy, here in the village of Rastelica in the municipality of Dragas, where an avalanche of snow left 11 members of the same family dead. Only a girl then five-year-old had survived this tragedy. At the time, the municipality had invested something, but residents say they are not enough.
Many other homes, which were never compensated for, were destroyed by the avalanche.
Otherwise, this village has more than 5,000 registered residents, but half of them live abroad.
