The Kosovo Assembly should have a key role in Kosovo's talks with Serbia, so that reaching agreements between the two countries in Brussels will not find the country before any committed act.
Thus, they have praised Kosovo Assembly deputies, who gathered at the upcoming meeting with the chairman of the Parliamentary Commission on the “Role of parliamentary commissions in oversight of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue” of the Commission for Foreign Affairs in co-operation with KDI.
Commission for Foreign Affairs Chairman Vjosa Osmani said the Parliament is in informative darkness in terms of dialogue with Serbia, until she added that his role in the issue should be crucial.
It counted some of President Hashim Thaci's meetings with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who he said were public meetings until nothing was known.
None of us know about secret dinners, other meetings in margins of other organisms. I really hope they didn't happen. But normally, when citizens and the Assembly remain in informative darkness, there are many areas for speculation. 4 50” We have two resolutions that are in force authorising Government to lead dialogue, not president. Therefore, without any agreement of the Kosovo Assembly and not the Councilmen of the Parliament, we cannot have such a process led by the president. The less transparent zero”, Osmani said.
According to her, the Assembly is not on the table today, it is only the adviser to the Speaker of the Parliament, which according to her only represents Parliament Speaker Kadri Wessel.
While Life Krasniqi from KDI said the role of the Parliament should be central in dialogue with Serbia. She said Kosovo's Assembly has mandated Kosovo's prime minister to lead the dialogue process in Brussels, while adding that they are seeing that country's president, Hashim Thaci, is leading that process.
What we're seeing is that with the new Government and the new Kosovo Parliament legislature, it's continuing the same story as before, when the country's prime minister has already appointed a new person, Mr. Avni Arifi as chief negotiator of technical dialogue, where Kosovo's Assembly has not been consulted, has not been included in the process. And very little information remains, or very little shared with Kosovo deputies or citizens, about what is being discussed within this process, what are the reported”, Krasniqi said.
According to Krasniqi, the Assembly should be the focus of the whole process, as at the end of this process the binding agreement will be signed.
The chairman of the Commission for Legislation, Mandate and Immune, Albulen Haxhiu, said she cannot call for the implementation of agreements that are at the expense of Kosovo.
For this, she said President Hashim Thaci is guilty, who according to her has violated and violated the Constitution.
It's totally unacceptable that Mr. Thaci has authoritarianly assumed the leadership of this process, now that he is president. Because we know that the biggest responsibilities of Zajednica and the entire process of responsible dialogue is Hashim Thaci. And it has consistently neglected and violated the Parliament and the Republic of Kosovo, as it is now doing”, Haxhiu said.
As for dialogue, MP Albulen Haxhiu said there should be an investigative commission that would assess any agreement signed in Brussels.
Public Finance Supervisor Commission Chairman Driton Selamanay asked several questions and offered proposals regarding the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
“It is unserious the team, which is continuing to go there to represent Kosovo. I think it's more like a tourist expedition than serious state representatives. The second question is who gave the president permission to integrate in this process... What I think is to produce a joint letter asking the Government to bring us to the Assembly. In fact, there's also a tip, the way he set up this team, who these people are, how competent they are, and what are the themes”, he said.
Even the deputy chairman of the Commission for Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Besa Gageri, demanded that the opposition and position seize this issue by accounting for the agreements reached so that the country will not waste time.
While MP Besa Baftiu, chairman of the Commission for Health, said Serbia has never responded to violations of any agreement.
