German Chancellor Angela Merkel is staying in Paris today to talk to President Emmanuel Macron about the reforms they seek to reach an agreement by June to resume a troubled Europe.
“Today, an important milestone is opened where we will have to do much with short-term decisions and determine the medium-term and long-term prospects for our Europe, far more important than a month ago”, the French president said.
I have the will to reach and I believe we can. It is more than ever necessary for Europe to operate jointly in a geopolitical situation, in which multilatheralism is under pressure”, Merkel added.
The French president waited several months until the political situation in Germany stabilised to start Franco-German activities, which has always been used to advance European files.
