The deputy head of the US mission in Kosovo, Collins Hyland, has said Kosovo needs more women engaged in every aspect of life.
At the opening of Women's Week, she has said this week is a celebration and opportunity to break barriers to women's political and economic participation. According to her, Kosovo should withdraw every citizen's talent.
We have to admit that this is not happening right now. Unless we see the makeup of the government now Kosovo is not doing well, there are only two ministers. In the country, however, no parliamentary group is led by a woman. If we look at 38 municipalities, no mayor of the municipality is female”, Hyland has said, the Koha Ditore reads.
According to her, she faces not only Kosovo, but that she should be given more opportunities to women talented and dedicated.
Even Chief Parliamentary Veselin has said that Kosovo has successful women and can take pride in them, while calling for more representation of women in decision-making.
“We have given examples of how the country's main institutions are entrusted to women for guidance: Presidencys, Constitutional Court, Central Election Commission, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister, Ambassadors. Of course, that's not enough. But there are positive signs and developments that need to continue, and representation of women in decision-making should be increased in line with legislation that we have personally adopted”, Veselin stressed.
