The idea of partitioning Kosovo is a sensitive topic, which requires serious talks and for now it is not clear whether the division means exchange of territories or should be done on any other basis. Thus, as the newspaper Express broadcasts, Albanian National Council member Ragmi Mustafa declared during a yesterday-day debate in Bujanoc.
In the debate, organised by the Youth Initiative for Human Rights from Belgrade, and within the Serbian “dialog for Kosovo, Mustafa has stressed that the Serbian state does not respect the rights of Albanians in the Presevo Valley, reports Blitz.rs.
“Dialogue between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and Albanians here has not happened, and this has made it difficult to solve many problems in the Presevo Valley for Albanians”, Mustafa has said.
He has added that Albanians are accused of the idea of large Albania in order to be denied the right to seek their rights and meet daily needs.
For dialogue initiated by Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq, Mustafa said it appears it is being done for the entire Yugoslavia and noted that the Valley Albanians should lock on it, but that happened earlier.
Gani Rashit from the Centre for Avokim and Development of Democracy from Presevo, regarding the idea for exchange of territories, said Albanians have taken a stand in referendum in 1992.
The exchange of territories takes place, Rashi said, among internationally accepted subjects, leading to recognition.
Fatmir Jahiu of the Alternative for Changes said that Albanians in Serbia have shown willingness to integrate, while accusing politicians of the years, as well as the present, that “has seized people's chances of normal living”.
Jahiu considers that monoethnic states are not a good model for life and that it is not worth talking about who was here sooner or later, because we, according to him, are here too long.
“We have to start the normalisation process, which is far more important than the idea of dividing”, Jahiu said and added that the Valley Albanians seek to join Kosovo because they feel discriminated against.
The second panel of Serbian Youth Initiative for Human Rights debate will be held today in Presevo.
