KMDLNj, while praising that of the Kosovo police, has added that presenting his arrest in the media has been unnecessary and humiliating to him.

The chief of the so-called Office for Kosovo, Djuric was arrested and then deported to Serbia after having illegally entered Kosovo territory.

“KMDLNj seeks investigation into this professional concession that should not happen. Police intervention during the arrest of Marko Djuriqi, KMDLNj values as very professional, meanwhile, unnecessary exposure to medicine and citizens see it as political folklore and influenced by politics”, says part of the report sent to the media.

Full response of KMDLNJ:

Marko Djuric had to be arrested, not “arrested”

Due to the illegal crossing of the border, Serbia's Kosovo office chief Marko Djuric was arrested by Kosovo Police to bring to Pristina on a stand after being deported to Serbia via the Merdare border point.

The arrest of Marko Djuric was a very professional act of the Kosovo Police and in line with international standards of countries with a developed democracy where respect for human rights is the fundamental and universal value of democracy. After arrested Marko Djurovic has been transferred to the Centre for Banning in Pristina, KMDLNj monitors have been at the Banning Centre with Kosovo Police were very cooperative with KMDLNj, not blocking it in any action and providing free access to this centre.

The Council for Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms, based on the mandate it has, and on agreements signed with the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the Kosovo Police, respectively, made monitoring of the Banning Centres that are under the responsibility of Kosovo MPB-Poliatia, as well as the Centres of Pre-prisonment and Correcting Houses, which are in charge of the Kosovo Correcting Service and the Ministry of Justice.

KMDLNj, due to Marko Djuriqi's several-minute stance at the Pristina Banning Centre, has not been able to interview the detainee to prove that human rights violations deprived of freedom have been committed against him.

Police action in Mitrovica has become the cause of illegal entry and the holding of Marko Djuric's illegal meeting despite the warning that he will be arrested. Kosovo police have been exiled in line with Kosovo's laws and authorisations.

Following the arrest, in which Serb police officers of Kosovo have been acting, have reacted to Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, threatening that they will suffer and thus jeopardise the lives of Kosovo Serb police officers and their families.

Vuciqi's threat poses direct danger and, as such, must be condemned by Kosovo institutions and the international community. This testifies who is setting fire to the official Kosovo Police cars in northern Mitrovica, and who is attacking Serbian Kosovo Police officers and who killed Oliver Ivanoviqi.

The Second Concern KMDLNj is the presence of Serbian ministers of the Government of Kosovo at the illegal meetings of Djuric and Vulin, as well as their open stand for Serbia and against Kosovo. These guys need to be downloaded immediately.

And KMDLNj's third concern is the treatment of Marko Djuris from reaching Pristina to moving to the Ban Centre. From the face of the rights of those deprived of freedom, the person arrested must be treated with dignity, in accordance with international standards and not acted in this case. Mr. Djuric, handcuffed Djuric, has presented no danger to the Kosovo Police and its security and exposure to numerous media and citizens when it has been possible to be sent through the regular route to the Ban Stop Centre to represent degrading and humiliating treatment and as such should be judged in concrete cases, but in other cases.

Kosovo police, professionally, are very well prepared and among the best in the region, therefore should not allow themselves to repeat similar mistakes in the future. All those arrested should be treated without being discriminated against and in accordance with human rights.

KMDLNj seeks investigation into this professional concession that should not happen. Police intervention during the arrest of Marko Djuriqi, KMDLNj values as highly professional, meanwhile, unnecessary exposure to medicine and citizens see it as political folklore and influenced by politics.

The rights of persons deprived of freedom are universal, do not differ from ethnic affiliation, political beliefs or status in society, and only as such are accepted as the standard of human rights. We hope the Kosovo police understand this and that such concessions will not occur in the future.
