European Commission President Jean Claude Juncker urged Western Balkan countries to move on rapidly to speed up integration.
At a session in Brussels where he discussed Europe's future, he has made it clear that the countries of the region will not join the union of necessity until 2025.
Previously, according to Juncker, countries must definitely meet the conditions, respectively to close open issues with neighbours.
Juncker has specifically spoken for Serbia and Montenegro, defining them as countries that have made visible progress and are expected to settle disputes by 2019, thus increasing the possibilities for membership.
We are not saying that the Western Balkan countries will join the EU by 2025. This is an indicator date, a prospect to motivate countries to continue reforms. And let us be clear; no country can join the EU before resolving bilateral disputes”, said Jean Claude Juncker, president of the European Parliament.
