Today there are 10 years of Gerdec's tragedy in which tragedy lost 26 lives and 300 others were injured after the explosion rocked the village in the suburbs of Tirana.
The explosion in the weapons demonstration workshop damaged hundreds of homes in the surrounding area.
It was Saturday, when 10 years ago at a “factory” for the demonstration of weapons in Gerdec on March 15, 2008, there was a terrible explosion around 12:05 noon.
The event took over all of the country's televisions but also occupied the screens of many foreign channels (such as Euro News, CNN, and others), where the event took priority.
Under the court's ruling, former responsibility of the demonstration weapons factory that erupted on March 15th 2008 in Gerdec was sentenced to 18 years in prison, former director of the prison. MEICO, Ylli Pinari, is serving 18 years in prison, and factory manager Alba-Demil, Mihal Deliorgji, is serving 10 years in prison.
