The failure of public enterprises and independent agencies' boards and the illegal exceeded deadlines for meeting boards, according to civil society representatives, suggests that coalition partners are shopping for these positions, writes “Koha Ditore” today.
Even six months after receiving the mandate, the Haradinaj government has failed to operationalise the boards of several public companies and independent agencies. Without functional board, Kosovo Telecom, Energy Regulatory Office and “Trepca” have been operating for more than a year.
Even the Kosovar Privatisation Agency (AKP) has had an dysfunctional board for several months. Part of the blame for failing to schedule the board of some of them is the Kosovo Assembly, which is responsible for appointing some of them. And in Government, they have said they are in procedures to appoint members of these boards.
Dardan Abazi, from the Institute for Development Policy (INDEP), has told the paper how the institute has sometimes insisted that the legal deadline for meeting the positions of board members not be exceeded.
