Election reform, initiated in 2011, has not yet ended in the absence of the will of political party leaders. MPs and civil society representatives say election reform would enable better elections. They expect it to be completed after major topics are closed.

In the absence of political will to complete electoral reform, this process initiated in 2011 has not yet been completed. Even the question of reform has been reacted several times over these seven years due to political crises. MPs and representatives of civil society expect reforms to be completed after the end of some of the major <x0-meastrophies” the country is currently facing.

With electoral reform completed, some issues have to be answered, such as the number of electoral areas, the electoral threshold for independent candidates, for parties and for coalitions, the manner of electing the president, whether or not of electoral lists, as well as other issues.

From the prime minister, they have said that electoral reform initiated long ago by the Parliament is already in the president's “hand”. The previous “Vit has also had an initiative by the Presidency Office, which has been joined by the Government of Kosovo, all sides of the interest, by keeping the worker and also prepared advanced drafts found in the president's legal office”, are said to be in response to the prime minister's office.

Meanwhile, the presidency has given no answer to whether this process will be finalised quickly.

Election reform, following the conclusion of major topics

Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Blerta Deliu-Codra has told “Zerin” that electoral reform would contribute to political stability. It has also stressed the fact that electoral reform is the criterion on the road to membership in the European Union. The “, in addition, serves political stability, is also one of the criteria required in Kosovo's pace towards integration into the European Union”, Deliu-Codra has declared.

She has further said that electoral reform has not been completed because this process was launched at the time when the country was on the verge of elections, and added that this electoral reform should be completed after the major topic is completed. Kosovo is currently awaiting approval of the Demarket Agreement. Of course we are interested in ending these big issues, but of course it is in the country's interest to discuss electoral reform and to see the will of political parties”, it has added.

According to MP Blerta Deliu-Codra, clarifying the list of voters living abroad would facilitate the election process. “I think a better clarification of the issue of voters abroad would facilitate the election process in the future. There has also been progress in recent elections in cleaning up lists from dead persons, even though there have still been places of trouble in this regard”, it is over.
