Economic Ods View Demarkation as New Age

Ratification of the agreement for demarcation is the beginning of a new era for the economy in Kosovo, said Safet Gerjaliu, chairman of the Kosovo Economic Ode, at the media conference organised by the Kosovo Economic Oda and the American Oda of Kosovo.

Gerjaliu as he stressed the pressure OEK and other institutions have made for ratification of this agreement, said Kosovo has lost much in these three years since this deal has been held hostage, Online Economy reports.

There are three years missing and I believe that in these three years Kosovo has suffered multidimensional losses. I want to believe it's a new moment that shouldn't make us happy. The integration process has not ended with demarcation, numerous challenges await us. It's time for challenges because three lost years have negative consequences. But I want to believe that in the future, citizens will be the ones who decide”, Gerjaliu said.

The OEK chairman has, among other things, mentioned the lack of electricity supply. He said those who are losing most of this are citizens and businesses themselves.

“The power supply issue is a testimony that in Kosovo is wasting time. It is not an honor for Kosovo to be dependent on import. The one suffering most with the lack of electricity is citizen and business”.

Gerjaliu has also expressed concern about the recent situation regarding the import of meat in Kosovo. He said all this situation is happening because political issues have overshadowed other issues that directly affect the citizen.

Disturbed with this situation was OECH chairman Arrian Zeka.

He said the recent scandal is the best indication of poor and inefficient work that the Veterina Agency is making as a result of institutional indomitability. Zeka has also talked about changing the law on commercial societies. He said changing this law would negatively affect foreign direct investments.

The final law on commercial companies that have changed with a proposal that runs right through it and which arbitrarily places quotas on gender representation on commercial boards. We too, but OECA has had conflicting attitudes. We believe that there will be even more negative impact on attracting foreign direct investment. The last scandal, I believe, is the best indicator of poor and inefficient work that this institution has made”.
