The European Bank for Development and Reconstruction has expressed readiness to assist the National Council for Economic Development, through a project that will finance it to engage a secretariat staff to have better ties between business associations and public institutions.
Trade and Industry Minister Bajram Hasani has praised the EURZH assistance initiative to establish a technical secretariat that will support the National Economic Development Council.
That would be a very good idea to establish a secretariat. We will support you, and the prime minister agrees to empower this council. The goal has been to increase this council to be represented by all business associations”, he said.
While EURZH Senior Investment Climate Adviser Franklin Stevens has said they have made this practice in the countries of the region.
The secretariat's “work is to deal with dialogue between the private sector and the government and to provide a real analytical technical work derived from the Council's recommendations and to approach the government”, Steves said.
The role of this secretariat will be the voice of businesses that will take it to the government. The staff of this secretariat will have contracts with the EBRD and will operate within the MTI, which will have close co-operation with the minister.
Also discussed at this meeting is a regional business registration portal, which will be online and Kosovo will be part of. Information from the region's business records can be found there.
