Bosnian Serb nationalist leader Milorad Dodik has suggested that the Bosnian Serb “and the Serb-dominated part of Kosovo should join Serbia“, challenging the international peace sponsors' stance against any change of borders.
Dodik has long called for the division of Serbs from Bosnia and has asked President Vucic that “put on his agenda of talks with political-creators of major powers on this issue”.
He has even pressured Vucic to support this proposal. Meanwhile, Vucic, a former Serbian nationalist, has given negative answers to this request, declaring that “supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia”.
In an interview for a Belgrade media, Dodik has stated that “we should open talks” on this issue, and “this goal can be achieved without fighting and we can solve it by political means”.
Dodik's party has warned a referendum on the independence of Republika Srpska for 2018 that has at the moment been postponed. He has declared to Serbian television that the majority of Bosnian Serbs will vote to join Serbia if the referendum is organised today”.
Dodik has also supported the creation of a Bosnian region dominated by Croats alone, an option that is increasingly being supported by Bosnian Croat nationalists, but strongly opposed by Bosniaks who were the main victims of the 1992-1996 war, as well as by Western powers.
