US State Department reacts after Djuric's arrest

The US State Department has condemned events that took place in northern Kosovo following the arrest of the director of the so-called Serbian Office for Kosovo, Marko Djuric.

The United States strongly condemns yesterday's events in Mitrovica, which unnecessarily raises tensions and threaten regional stability. We call on all sides to avoid further escalation of the situation and to act calmly as well as resolve peaceful disputes. To create lasting peace and stability in the Balkans, Kosovo and Serbia must focus on normalising relations through EU-led dialogue. The United States is willing to support all sides in dialogue talks”, the UN statement said.
