The collapse of the pedestrian bridge leading to Florida International University has led to a loss of between 6 and 10 people.
“6 to 10 people were killed when the newly constructed pedestrian bridge collapsed”, Florida Senator Bill Nelson told local television “CBS Miami”
According to local authorities, eight vehicles have remained under the ruins of 950 tonnes bridge, and eight people have been transported to hospitals.
A large crane, ambulance, police and firemen have been on the scene to evacuate the wounded.
The bridge was inaugurated on Saturday and had not yet opened to the public.
