World Bank is launching new study on air quality management in Kosovo

At the opening of this workshop, Minister Resitaj has said that Kosovo is located at an important stage in meeting the criteria required for membership in the European Union, where, among areas of importance, the clean environment.
Although improving air quality is a big challenge, I have not hesitated to deal directly with this problem in terms of finding causers and taking measures to improve it. As the minister, we are in preparation for installing central software for collecting air quality data from monitoring stations and presenting them in real time via web application and Smart Phoones (Android and IOS);
Minister Resitij has said that projects and activities aimed at promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency, as well as boosting limits for solar and wind energy.
Meanwhile, Marco Mantovanelli, World Bank Country Manager in Kosovo, has said that air in Pristina and in Kosovo in general, especially during winter, is heavy and change of this situation requires commitment by all.
It's a great pleasure to be here today to open this Air Quality Management Workers in Kosovo and start a new study on air quality management. The goal is to identify the problem correctly so that real solutions can be found. This analytical work focuses on collecting more evidence to better treat environmental air pollution, not only in Kosovo but also in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia, Mantovanelli said.
He explained that this study will analyze the health and economic effects of air pollution. In addition, he will try to see where pollution comes from and what is the relative contribution of each source to the problem of air pollution.
Work has been organised under the World Bank's initiative for analytical work in the field of air quality management in several Western Balkan countries.
