The meat imported from the firm “Vevaba” from Belgium has been discussed today at the table organised for International Consumer Day, organised by the Consumer Protection Council operating under the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

Ibrahim Tersnjak, has said AVUK has shown a professional performance in finding the scandal where the European Union authorities have also informed about the meat scandal by Belgian company “Vevaba”.

Fortunately, the consolidation of this institution by respecting all the standard operational procedures we have managed to prevent a product from entering Kosovo at the border point that has been with all the parameters not allowed to enter. We've taken all procedures by law, destroyed products found at the border, informed the EU authorities of continuing to track those problems that occur in different world producers, and we've pledged that our authority will be established, with even too much, standard procedures by precisely respecting all that goes into Kosovo”, he said.

Trsnjak also said the measures have been taken for all importing companies.

All those factories, which have permits, have no legal right not to allow. We've done all the checks, no matter what other factories we've forbidden, even from Argentina and Brazil, which have happened to have such scandals and factories that have no importative numbers. We don't even give import permission, not to control them, but we don't give them the right to take a road to Kosovo”, Trsnjak said.

Otherwise, the broken meat scandal in Belgium uncovered by the Federal Food Network Insurance Agency (FASFC) last week has affected Kosovo as well. The agency found that Belgian meatba “Veviba” had sold large amounts of meat broken in Kosovo and several other Southeast European countries.
