Just five miles [5 km] from the city center of Shkodra, at the foot of Taraboshi Mountain, a mother of three children, for 10 years since her village residence was burned, she lives in an army tunnel abandoned in extreme poverty, without water, without light, without work, and most days without bread.
But also abandoned and isolated from the rest of society. This is Dela Gega and this is what Dile calls home “”.
Dela relates that her husband died two years ago, her only son tells me she stays in the mountain all day with those few animals. And the two women from several nights have been taken to pity by some distant cousins but will soon return to the tunnel.
The only way to keep her soul in the body for this suffering mother and her children is to gather the servant on the mountain.
Modest dishes in pots for days are the only repeated food for the Gega family.
Under these sad conditions, Dita Gega appeals for help.
“Call for help, since I am dying for bread”, says Dila Gega.
From the tunnel in which Dita lives, the view of Shkodra city is wonderful, but for Dilen the city can only be seen and never lived.
