Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq, who is on a visit to Germany, after meeting with Chancellor Angela Merkel said that “understood messages” and that he will work on resolving the Kosovo problem, Belgrade media quoted him as saying.
Vuciq said that ahead of Serbia there is a “difficult” road, that much work needs to be done in terms of the chapter related to rule of law, but also about relations with Kosovo.
I said it was better to love your children's land than your ancestors' land. Serbia is ready for serious solutions, but the solution is for one side and the other to lose from something”, Vuciq has indicated.
“Perhaps the good would be that no one would be satisfied”, since there are serious solutions, whereas for Serbia difficult is only the one with which Serbia should be left alone.
I know which heavy tasks appear before Serbia, I am grateful to Merkel for support... I believe in compromises, not in unilateral solutions, that Germany's support, which will take place under the direction of Angela Merkel, will be even more powerful, that the solution” will be found, Vuciq said.
Angela Merkel, following talks with Vuciqi, said that “membership negotiations could be successful after further reforms in the rule of law domain and in light of the issue of relations with Kosovo”, broadcast Koha.net.
“Negotiations on membership can be successful if reforms on the rule of law are developed further and in light of the issue of relations with Kosovo. So we partly dealt with the issue of how we can reach the judicial framework, settlements with agreements on Kosovo”, Merkel has said.
