The European Integration Ministry expresses its concerns about the adoption of recommendations presented by the Vetevendosje Movement parliamentary group in the Kosovo Assembly.
Through a communique from this ministry, these recommendations are said to seriously affect the independence of the judiciary and the Kosovo justice system, and as such, they are contrary to the fundamental constitutional principle of separation of powers.
The “recommendations in question violate Kosovo's obligations stemming from the Stabilisation and Association Agreement to respect the independence of the justice system as one of the main values of the European Union”, it says in response.
The European Integration Ministry emphasises that the adoption of these recommendations comes days after the European Union has confirmed that Kosovo has its own process of integration into the European Union shared by Serbia and that implementation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement is the obligation for Kosovo to move forward in this process.
“Political intervention in the independence of the justice system, such as adopting recommendations in question, seriously violate Kosovo's European integration process as one of the most important processes for the country's development of”, concludes its response from MIE.
We remember that during the day such reactions to this adoption were made by the Ministry of Justice and the KDR.
