(8 years ago)Maldive police have arrested Maumoon former president Abdul Gayoom today, his spokesman Abdul Alim said. His arrest was made hours after the state of emergency was declared. Gayoom, who is the brother of the current president, Jamin Abdul Gayoom, led Maldivet for 30 years until 2008.
