KSF ready to become army, only political decision expected

“The KSF is willing to fulfill its commitment, whenever the political decision is made we will be ready. We've made our plans -- it's a medium- and long-term plan. The KSF has the capacity and opportunity to start implementing those plans”, says KSF Commander Kundman Rama for Rtv21.tv.
He demanded that each make its own contribution to the transformation occur.
It is the same appeal for each to make its own contribution. This institution and its transformation are in the best interests of citizens and of the country”, Rama said.
Ismet Beqiri, a member of the Commission for Security establishing the army, sees it only through constitutional changes.
We don't have the support for this happening without constitutional changes, so I'm agreeing that politics should do its job, but this will only happen when we have a support, a partnership and a support from those who have been able to help us here where we are today”, hot Beqiri.
While the other member of this commission Rexhep Selimi does not view the name as a problem, he says the KSF should have the powers of the military.
The Serbian List's “S right creates a veto right. Being in this situation, being this main obstacle to converting KSF into armed forces, we should not cross a closed path, having other open paths”, Selimi explains.
He considers that “should do what we can and target what we want to target”, explaining that the KSF even with its mandate may be better equipped and have more budgets.
But neither Beqiri nor Selimi believe the KSF will become an army this year, as President Hashim Thaci has declared.
KSF Commander Nakman Rama when he spoke of Rtv21.tv, not commenting on the Serbian List's stance against transformation, said the KSF is multiethnic and Serbs are well integrated in it and have no problems.
