The athletes of the two states entered under the same flag during the parade after months of tension in the Korean Peninsula.
“We are stronger than all forces that want to divide us,” said Olympic President Thomas Bach.
Lizzie Yarnold carried the flag of Great Britain as Russian athletes entered under the neutral flag, reports “BBC”, report Periscope.
Russia has been barred from participating in the Olympic Games, as a result of McLaren 2016's report, which claimed that the country's more than 1,000 athletes benefited from state-sponsored doping.
North Korean ice hockey player Chun Gum Hwang and South Korean athlete Won Yun-jong moved towards opening the ceremony under a common flag./Periscopi/
