European Integrations Minister Donus Hoxha has said today that Kosovo's integration into the European Union has no alternative.
At a media conference a day after launching the EU's enlargement strategy, Hoxha said the EU has opened the door and Kosovo must pass that door.
We have expected more and more concrete steps. However, our EU integration has no alternative. The EU made it clear when Kosovo is tasked with fulfilling obligations issued by the SAA. Kosovo cannot compare itself with neighbouring states that have long started reforms”, Hoxha has said.
According to the positive strategy, the EU has confirmed that Kosovo has the country in the EU separated from Serbia, and that is enough.
For me, “is recognition of Kosovo's citizenship. It is positive that the EU requires Serbia and the EU to reach a mandatory agreement that forces Serbia to end its policy of blocking Kosovo and being a state. The recognition of the state by Serbia and the end of Kosovo's deadlock on membership in international mechanisms. The tasks we have to carry out are in the SAA and we have to implement”, the Minister of Integration said.
During this conference Hoxha has also cited the issue of demarcation, where a political consensus must be found according to it so that it can be ratified as soon as possible.
The sooner we do this, the sooner we will enjoy free movement. We must complete our international obligations and I believe that in the coming weeks this movement will be made because time is going to be a year of free movement for our citizens, Hoxha said.
