The first modern Britons, who lived about 10,000 years ago, had dark <x0 cells to black”, discovered an innovative DNA analysis of the oldest skeleton of Great Britain.
Fossil, known as Chaddar Man, was discovered more than a century ago in the Gushi Cave in Somerset. Strong speculation has built around the origin and appearance of Chaddar Man, because he lived shortly after the first colonies passed from continental Europe to Britain at the end of the ice age. People of British white descent today are descendants of this population, writes the Eye.net.
Initially supposed to have the Chaddar man had pale skin and straight hair, but his DNA painted a different view, strongly suggesting that he had blue eyes, a dark brown until black and dark curly hair.
Tom Booth, an archaeologist at the Natural History Museum who worked on the project, said: “really notes that these imaginary racial categories that we have are very modern, or very recent constructions, which are really not applicable to the past”.
Yoan Diekmann, a computerised biologist at the College London University and another member of the project team, agreed, saying that the often attracted link between Britain and white was not a non-x0> true one. It has always changed and will change”.
