Polish Prime Minister Matthews Morawiecki will visit Berlin next Friday and it is precisely the opportunity to open a new chapter in German-Polish relations, which are stable although there are different views on certain issues, the German Chancellor from her Berlin office answered a question directed by a student.
The visit comes at a point when Warsaw has become the target of criticism led by Germany and Brussels on the issue of rule of law in Poland, the refusal to accept refugee quotas, and the law requiring the failure to use the wrong expression of “Polish death camps” in connection with camps built by German Nazis in occupied Poland.
On the refugee issue, the discussion is expected to be difficult as the new Polish government warned in mid-January that it would not bring back the issue of Warsaw's refusal to wait for refugees under European quota-sharing mechanisms.
